Buying fish, plants and corals, Some free advice

OK, I work at the LFS,the local fish store. And I have some advice on buying your livestock

  1. If you don't know what the animal, plant, coral is called DO NOT BUY IT!
  2. If you are not familiar with its necessary water quality, feeding or lighting needs DO NOT BUY IT!
  3. If you are unsure, or skeptical in any way concerning the health of the animal, plant, coral or invertebrate ,DO NOT BUY IT!
  4. If a fish will not eat DO NOT BUY IT!
  5. DO NOT rely on the employees at the LFS to endlessly hold your hand and guide you in your purchases..the livestock you are purchasing for your system are reliant on YOU , your water quality, your lighting, and your feeding.

There has never been more information available to hobbyists in the history of the aquarium hobby. Take advantage of that . Learn to separate the wheat from the chaff, and educate yourself before you purchase. It is your money, and your hobby.

hmmm....I will Rant more later I'm sure..
